CORPORATE ART AWARDS:
RECOGNITION FOR PIAGGIO FOUNDATION

ASSIGNMENT OF THE PRESTIGIOUS “BEST INVOLVEMENT OF SOCIAL MEDIA” AWARD, PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONTEST PROMOTING EXCELLENCE IN COLLABORATION BETWEEN BUSINESS AND ART.

The Piaggio Foundation and its museum received awards at the prestigious international “Corporate Art Awards” for 2016, organised by pptArt, in cooperation with the LUISS Business School, the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, Museimpresa and the La Repubblica newspaper as media partner. The purpose of the awards is to identify, foster and promote excellence in collaboration between the business and art worlds. The name of the winner of the first prize of the Corporate Art Awards 2016 was confirmed on 16 November: the Piaggio Foundation is the recipient of the “Best involvement of social media” award, after securing the largest number of “likes” from the public in the online voting campaign.

The other award winners in the various categories were announced in Rome on 23 November, at the Ministry for Cultural Heritage & Activities, in the presence of Minister Franceschini, during the opening ceremony and press conference, followed by a gala dinner and award ceremony. The concluding event on 24 November, also in Rome, was the International Corporate Art presentations.

Piaggio Group Marketing & Communication Director Davide Zanolini said: “The Piaggio Foundation represents the values of our brands, for which it not only holds the historical record, but also expresses the bond of affection that millions of people have for them and the spirit that drives them. This recognition rewards our efforts and makes us particularly proud.”
“We are delighted that the first prize awarded in the 2016 Corporate Art Awards goes to a company that has always been a symbol of Italian design in the world and that has developed one of the richest and most interesting corporate museums over the years,” said Luca Desiata, Professor of “Corporate Art” at the Luiss Business School and founder of pptArt.

The online contest was a fiercely fought battle down to the last “like”: from September to 10 November, the www.pptart.net/participantswebpage hosted the online voting campaign for the best Corporate Art project among those presented by 80 companies from more than 22 countries. Each company was able to involve its own employees, Facebook and Twitter followers, inviting them to express their appreciation by 10 November. The initiative attracted a strong international response, receiving more than 10,000 “likes”. After a close head-to-head with other distinguished competitors, the Piaggio Foundation secured the largest number of votes.

As part of its cultural program, the Piaggio Foundation hosts temporary exhibits and shows of great artists from the past, contemporary artists and up-and-coming talents, whom it also involves in educational and scholastic projects. Thanks in part to this collaboration, over time the Piaggio Foundation has acquired a rich collection of paintings, sculptures and installations, including the numerous vehicles interpreted or painted by artists that are part of Piaggio history, of which the most famous and valuable is undoubtedly the Vespa scooter decorated by Salvador Dalì in 1962.

The items are displayed at the Piaggio Museum, together with the rich historical Vespa, Ape and Gilera collections, forming a fascinating combination of science, technology, art and style.

NEXT EDITION OF THE CORPORATE ART AWARDS IS IN 2018. INFO:
