GUIDO MEDA, FASO AND DILETTA LEOTTA PRESENT THE TALENT SHOW FOR ITALY'S TOP VESPA CUSTOMISERS. Milan, 4 May 2018 – LORD OF THE BIKES, the world’s first talent show for two-wheeler customizers, returns to Italy's Sky Uno HD channel with a completely new look, or, better, a revolution. This year’s program is entitled LORD OF THE BIKES VESPA R-EVOLUTION and will be devoted entirely to Vespa, one of Italy’s best known and most admired brands, a symbol of Italian style for more than seventy years. The 2018 program LORD OF THE BIKES VESPA R-EVOLUTION will go on air from 8 May, every Tuesday at 10.20 p.m., on Sky Uno HD, and will also be available on Sky On Demand.
The presenters and judges are also new faces: Guido Meda, the “voice” of MotoGP on Sky Sport, Faso, bass guitarist with the band Elio e le Storie Tese, and Diletta Leotta, the face of Sky Sport; the trio will have the honour and the responsibility of deciding the fate of the ten Vespa customizers competing from around Italy.
Guido Meda: “Historically speaking, Vespa is a perfect object. Apparently immutable, like every great soul that gets off to a good start in life. But Lord Of The Bikes has put the scooter into the hands of people who know how to work with the soul of a motorbike. So, with a mixture of nail-biting and excitement, laughter and exasperation, a few mistakes and mishaps, the show has all the potential to see some highly unusual and original Vespa scooters contending for the title.
Diletta Leotta, Faso and I are having a great time in our role as judges, we’re close friends and we’ve been giggling like schoolkids. Diletta is very strong on the aesthetics; Faso knows everything about the Vespa and has a great sense of irony. I’m passionate about two-wheelers and when I see something that doesn’t convince me, I end up in the uncomfortable but necessary part of bad cop. Bad in a manner of speaking. The Vespa creates and deserves a cheerful mood, as well as respect and attention. You’ll love it. We look forward to seeing you!”
Each episode takes a different theme: music, social media, movies, racing, and fashion, and the competitors have to give full rein to their creativity to come up with new versions of the legendary scooter from one program to the next, putting all their expertise into each project but without altering the charm of each Vespa. Here, they will be helped by the strength of the brand: Vespa has come down through the decades and generations, making its name in film, design, music, and is a global success today, with around 19 million scooters on the world’s roads.
Lord of the Bikes 2018 will use both the “small body” models Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint, and the large-frame Vespa GTS, known in Italy as the “Vespone” (means: big Vespa). The two Vespa families will be the base on which the teams of custom artists will work, inspired by the most diverse themes but faced with the challenge of remaining true to the soul and values of the Vespa brand.
