TOP-QUALITY STREET FOOD

STREET FOOD IS EVOLVING: BUSINESS SPECIALISATION IS GROWING WITH EVER MORE REFINED OFFERS INCLUDING SUSHI, TRUFFLES, BUFFALO MOZZARELLA, BIO SMOOTHIES AND GASTRONOMIC SPECIALITIES. NOT FORGETTING ITALIAN-STYLE COFFEE.

Street food is a flourishing and fast-growing business in and outside Italy today, with the Piaggio Ape and Porter cargo vans playing a leading role, thanks to the expertise of specialised outfitters who convert the flexible little vehicles into tempting bistrots on wheels providing an efficient, tasty and meticulously detailed service.

Porter and Ape Piaggio street food at the “Moto Guzzi Open House” event in Mandello del Lario (9-11 September 2016), celebrating the 95th anniversary of the Italian motorcycle brand.

The colourful vans offer a huge variety of food and beverages, with irresistible gastronomic delicacies in pride of place. Forget high-calorie rolls and carbonated drinks: the choice of snacks available in city streets during fairs, events and the countless festivals devoted to “itinerant food” has never been wider.

Foodies can sample sushi and oysters, truffle-based specialities, prime meats (such as Tuscany’s Chianina beef), organic delicacies (fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies, soups), buffalo mozzarella, every possible type of fried food, American-style barbecue fare like chicken wings, Italian coffee and fine wines, organic and gluten-free bread and pasta, polenta and even “risotto alla Milanese”, the ever-present pizza, in hundreds of different combinations, followed by cakes, desserts, ice creams, craft beers… and so on and so forth.
The “secret” of the vendors’ success is specialisation, selecting the top traditional gastronomic products and prime ingredients.
