The Polini Italian Cup is a championship for scooters with displacements between 70 and 185 cc, which marked its 14th year in 2018. The 6 categories in the national competition, starring two-wheelers developed by the preparers, are: Scooter 70 Evolution Open; Scooter 70 Evolution Amateurs; Scooter 70 Evolution Amateurs Super Sport; Scooter 100 Big Evolution Open; Vespa 135 2T; Vespa 185 4T. The championship is open to all preparers and is fought to the last split second, in highly entertaining adrenalin-packed races that deliver excitement for riders, teams and the public. This is a national championship, but riders from a number of European countries take part, too.
The Italian champions for 2017 in their respective categories are Stefano Villa (Vespa 135 2T) and Marco Caddeo (Vespa 185 4T).
The 2017 championship final, held at the beginning of October at the Tazio Nuvolari racetrack in Cervesina (Pavia), was a thrilling event.
There were more than eighty starters, including ten non-Italians from the Netherlands, Slovenia, Hungary and Switzerland; of these, 32 riders took part in the Scooter 70 Evolution Amateurs category; incredible speeds of more than 160 km/h were reached by the Scooter 100 Big Evolution two-wheelers on the final straight: a breathtaking spectacle.
