SUPERSTOCK 1000

SECOND CONSECUTIVE PODIUM FOR APRILIA AND MAXIMILIAN SCHEIB

THE CHILEAN IS THIRD IN IMOLA, LUCA VITALI WITH A GOOD SIXTH PLACE. NEXT RACE: 27 MAY 2018, ON THE BRITISH CIRCUIT OF DONINGTON PARK.

Imola (Italy), 13 May 2018 – The Aprilia Racing Team were protagonists in their home race, taking their second consecutive podium in Superstock 1000 on the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit of Imola. Chilean Maximilian Scheib, who started from the pole position earned yesterday, rode his RSV4 FW-STK to a third place finish after battling in the lead group throughout all 14 laps of the race. After his podium in Assen, this second positive result opens up Scheib's chances in the championship, now lying third in the overall rider standings.

Luca Vitali also earned important points, besting Marino for sixth in a final stretch sprint under the chequered flag. The next Superstock 1000 round is set for the weekend of 27 May at the British Donington Park track.

MAXIMILIAN SCHEIB (bike no. 7): "We were able to ride a good race almost down to the end. I am happy with this third place because we recovered points on the leaders and we are contenders for the championship.

Aprilia Racing Team did a fantastic job that let me take pole position and be very fast in the race. We are very close to the win.”

LUCA VITALI (moto n. 70): "The race was good, although in Imola I expected to be able to do something more. We had a few small problems in practice. We revolutionised the bike for the race and I had to use the early laps to gain confidence. I was very strong going into corners, whereas we were lacking a bit of grip coming out.

As the tyre wore, mine and the others', I found a good pace and made up positions. Now we will head to Donington with the goal of doing better than this sixth place where it feels like I'm stuck!"
