MOTO GUZZI WORLD CLUB: REPORT, VIDEO AND PHOTOS FROM THE 2018 SOLIDARITY MEETING

“We are like angels with just one wing. We can only fly by embracing one another.” And if it’s the wing of a Moto Guzzi Eagle, then we can fly much higher.

This was demonstrated at the 2018 Solidarity Meeting in Rieti from 4 to 6 May, the main event in the 2018 calendar of the Moto Guzzi World Club, the official club of the Moto Guzzi brand. More than 400 Guzzi bikers met up to share three marvellous days of solidarity and passion for Moto Guzzi.

Thanks to the commitment of the MGWC and the high turnout (despite the bad weather), the Mandello eagle was flying higher than ever, up the winding and uneven roads of Amatrice, the village that has become a symbol of the earthquakes in central Italy in 2016 and 2017. During the ride from Rieti to Amatrice organised on the Saturday, an endless procession of Moto Guzzi motorcycles escorted the donation of over 15,000 euro raised through the event registration fees, the sale of works by painter and sculptor Ettore Gambioli (who opened his show on Moto Guzzi bikes in Rieti’s municipal exhibition hall) and the funds collected during the annual events organised by individual Moto Guzzi Clubs around Italy.
The donation will go towards the construction of an outer roof for the newly opened Amatrice library, marking the start of the literary project "Il racconto del nonno" (Grandfather’s story), when young people from Amatrice will collect local stories and traditions to conserve the town’s memory.

A success, in the name of solidarity and friendship, which united the many Guzzi bikers from more than 20 clubs who took part.
