NEW PARTNERSHIP, RENEWED EUROPEAN SUPPORT, NEW RESEARCH INITIATIVES AND APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR TRAINING PROVIDERS
Brussels (Belgium), 15 October 2026 - After ten years of promoting high-quality voluntary post-licence motorcycle training, the European Motorcycle Training Quality Label is entering a new chapter. The Label has helped riders who want to keep improving their riding skills find training they can trust. With a new partnership, broader European support and new research initiatives, the Label now continues its journey and welcomes new training providers.

A new partnership. Since June 2026, the Label has been coordinated by ACEM the European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (https://www.acem.eu/), and ifz, the Institute for Motorcycle Safety (https://www.ifz.de/). The partnership combines ACEM’s long-standing commitment to road safety with ifz’s expertise in rider training and safety research. The German Road Safety Council (DVR), a founding member of the Label, will continue to manage the certified training programmes in Germany, while the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) expands the initiative’s reach internationally.
“The first ten years have given the Label a strong foundation. Together with ifz, we now want to build on that experience, expand its reach and make high-quality post-licence training accessible to more riders across Europe.” Antonio Perlot, ACEM Secretary General.

“Quality motorcycle training depends on clear learning objectives, effective teaching and instructors who are able to support riders in developing safer riding behaviour. Our cooperation with ACEM provides a strong basis for further developing the Label and supporting continuous improvement among certified European training providers.” Matthias Haasper, ifz Director.
Strong European support. The Label continues to receive support from European road-safety stakeholders. The European Commission has reconfirmed its support for the initiative, and the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) has supported the Label since 2019. FIA Region 1, POLIS and the Motorcycling MEP Club are now joining as official supporters, further broadening the initiative’s European road-safety, mobility and policy network.
Claire Depré, Head of the Road Safety Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), said: “The European Commission continues to support the European Motorcycle Training Quality Label as an important initiative promoting quality in post-licence rider training across Europe. By helping riders identify quality-assured training programmes and encouraging continuous learning throughout their riding journey, the Label contributes to our shared ambition of making Europe’s roads safer.”

Andreas Glück, Member of the European Parliament, said: “Safety is not just about vehicle technology; it is fundamentally about the rider. The European Motorcycle Training Quality Label puts the rider at the heart of road safety by promoting high-quality voluntary post-licence training. This forward-looking initiative helps create a safer, more responsible riding culture across Europe.”
Connecting research and innovation. The Label is also developing new links with academic research through cooperation with the University of Florence (UniFi) on AIGOR, a project exploring how artificial intelligence and riding data can give young moped and motorcycle riders personalised feedback on their riding and potential risks their first years on the road. ACEM is providing financial support to the project, which could lay the groundwork for a future digital safety tool for riders.
Ten years of advancing quality in rider education. This new era builds on a decade of trusted quality, with a European network of 35 certified training programmes in 10 countries, supported by a community of training providers committed to quality and safer riding. The Label has also fostered exchange between providers, creating opportunities to share experience and good practices.
