A NEW EVENT IN THE PROGRAM DEDICATED TO THE VINTAGE SOUL OF CYCLING AND OENO-GASTRONOMIC CULTURE: THE DATE IS 29 SEPTEMBER 2018, AT THE TENUTA BORGOLUCE (TREVISO, ITALY).
Milan, 17 September 2018 – On 29 September, as it celebrates its 70th birthday, Ape is the official partner of Deus Cyclewine, a program of events that combine a love for vintage bicycles and the epic soul of cycling with the culture of wine: the next event will be held in the charming Tenuta Borgoluce estate (Musile, Susegana, in the province of Treviso, North-East of Italy).
Participants will have the opportunity to explore fascinating places and sample Treviso’s outstanding oeno-gastronomic produce, pedalling along a route everyone can take on, accompanied by assistance from Ape The Ganzo, the Ape-based mobile mechanic shop customised to stunning effect by Deus Ex Machina. The whole event is organised by Deus Cycleworks – a division of Deus Ex Machina dedicated to bicycles – with special assistance from Ape.

Dedicated to lovers of vintage bicycles and oenological excellence, Cyclewine is a unique experience, open to members of the Italian cycling federation, FCI (membership may be taken out in loco). The packed program offers a guided tour of the Musile Susegana winery, which produces the famous wine Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, special tastings in the vineyards, an APEritif, music, as well as refreshments and a photo contest. In the evening, the Tenuta Borgoluce will host a presentation of awards to the best riders, followed by dinner.
Cyclists are invited to take in this unique event on their own vintage bicycles with the gearchange on the downtube, but gravel bikes and bikes from the “inappropriate” category (Graziella, Saltafoss, tandem...) are also welcome. People who don’t have a suitable two-wheeler but would like to take part, will be able to hire a bike in loco. Cyclists must be appropriately addressed, in the spirit of the event.
The cyclists will be accompanied along the route through the surrounding hills by Ape The Ganzo, the world’s most popular three-wheeler fitted out as a mobile support station. Piaggio’s Ape Classic – whose iconic and timeless curves were recently re-interpreted to enhance the vehicle’s vintage charm – has been customised by Deus Ex Machina, functionally and aesthetically, to allow it to play its role to the full as a well-equipped support station and cheerful riding companion.

THE APE CALESSINO WAS A PROTAGONIST OF THE FIRST DEUS CYCLEWINE: A WARM SUN, THE TUSCAN LANDSCAPES, THE HEARTY EXERTION OF PEDALLING, GOOD WINE. On an unforgettable day, this and much more was the first Deus CycleWine oeno-sports event organised by Deus Ex Machina for lovers of vintage bicycles (on 19 May). Ape was one of the participants at this stylish meeting with a Calessino, its most glamourous neo-vintage model.

The Tenuta San Guido estate in Bolgheri, producer of the celebrated the top-wine “Sassicaia”, welcomed the participants (in its cellars too), before the races took place, along roads, dirt tracks and vineyards to Castiglioncello. The “race service” was provided by the Calessino, which accompanied the riders along the entire route and, when it was time for the APEritif, brought everyone together for a special post-race toast, surprises, and awards, with stunning views of the Tuscan hills and the sea.
