Trento (Italy), 14 October 2019 – The second edition of “Il Festival dello Sport” (The Festival of Sport) in Trento from 10 to 13 October 2019 ended with a bang. The festival was organised by the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport and Trentino region with more than 140 events and 350 guests, 65 thousand attendees (30% more than the first edition). Between champions of yesterday and today, stories, celebrities, challenges and games: the best of sport, or rather sports, on the theme “the phenomenon, the Phenomena” (www.ilfestivaldellosport.it/it).
Speaking of phenomena, a green beauty shown at the Trento review: Vespa Elettrica, stylish, quiet and ecological, there to be admired and tried during the four days of the festivities. There were also two events with very high attendance that were held on Sunday the 13th: the special event “An electrifying... Vespa tour”, the parade of the caravan through the streets of the city, from piazza Dante to the MUSE-Muse-Museum of Science, where the talk by Matteo Dore (La Gazzetta dello Sport) took place on the theme “Vespa, the legend of two-wheelers” with Marco Lambri (Head of the Piaggio Group Design Centre) and Roman actress Cristiana Capotondi, special patroness for Vespa.
She was the one who led the extraordinary caravan of Vespas, including vintage and modern models, astride a Vespa Elettrica. Followed by hundreds of enthusiastic Vespa riders, with the vast participation of Vespa Clubs, Vespa Club d’Italia (Vespa Club of Italy) and Registro Storico Vespa (Vespa Historic Register).
The actress also stopped by the Vespa station for a while, where visitors could book test rides and shop for original apparel and accessories. It was an opportunity not to be missed to get to know the new green addition to the Vespa range up close and personal, and visitors to the festival did not let it slip through their fingers.
"The Vespa is a family item. It is the desire for freedom and a sense of lightness, as well as female emancipation. Riding a Vespa makes me feel light again. It is a different sensation than any other two-wheeler”, the actress commented. And Marco Lambri highlighted the way Vespa, a global icon with timeless charm for more than 73 years, has always been able to reinvent itself in tradition, skilfully interpreting the times and the needs of people. This is why Vespa Elettrica was born. A “phenomenon” of innovation that looks to the future.
At the end of the event, Cristiana Capotondi (editor’s note: in the photo above) stated: “The Festival of Sport hosted athletes who have written pages of history in their disciplines, true phenomena. It was four days of emotions which we ended on Sunday afternoon with another phenomenon: Vespa. It was an honour to parade through the streets of Trento with all the Vespa riders. Among the many models participating, there was the very first Vespa, from 1946. On my Vespa Elettrica, I imagined a symbolic passing of the sceptre from that beautiful ‘lady’ from ‘46 and this ‘young woman’, attentive to the environment, who does not sacrifice aesthetics and the initiative of being the first to travel down new roads. Vespa has always supported female emancipation, here and elsewhere: it embodies the aesthetics of emancipation.”
