NEXT BIG EVENT: “XXII ENCUENTRO DE CLUBES VESPA ARGENTINA”, FROM 11 TO 13 OCTOBER 2024: ORGANIZE THE VESPA CLUB FORMOSA WHICH INVITES THE VESPA CLUB PARAGUAY TO THE MEETING, JOINING THE TWO NATIONS IN THE FIRST EDITION OF “EL PASO VESPA”!

September (G.T.) – “The Vespa is an expression of genius, of creativity, and of Italian entrepreneurial spirit, which is known and celebrated all over the world. For the first time in Bahia Blanca, the Consulate-General welcomed the Vespa as a symbol of Made in Italy, right at the moment when Italy has become the fourth biggest exporter in the world. Fans, collectors and lovers of Piaggio’s Vespa from a host of cities in Argentina came together on 23 August at the Consulate-General for an exhibition of collectors’ and modern models, ahead of the parade through the centre of Bahia Blanca.

This parade then continued on 24 August towards the city of Punta Alta, the naval base of Puerto Belgrano, and finally, the Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca. The event served to mobilise an entire community of established fans and the Vespa-curious, lovers of this Italian icon of which there are tens of millions of examples more or less all over the world, with hundreds of clubs devoted to the Vespa legend, including the Vespa Club Bahia Blanca, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary.” This is the post published by Nicola Bazzani, Consul General for Italy in Bahia Blanca (Argentina), on his LinkedIn profile, with video clip of the nocturnal Vespa rally at the Consulate.

The initiative was sponsored by the Consulate General of Italy along with the Bahía Blanca Municipality, and saw the direct input of Karina Sanchez, the Head of Tourism. It was greeted with great enthusiasm and passion by Vespa lovers from Vespa Clubs from a range of Argentinian cities, from Bahía Blanca, to Rosario, Mar del Plata, La Plata and Buenos Aires. Despite the time of year (August is winter in Argentina), the invitation to the event - which was also published on the Consulate’s website - was met with great enthusiasm:

The event did not disappoint - there was an atmosphere of friendship, as well as good food, prizes and Vespa rides - with an exciting parade of Vespa models through the city centre at night, followed the next day by a procession of over 60 Vespas to Punta Alta, greeted by huge flags - both Argentine and Italian - waving in the breeze, with the public applauding as they passed. The Vespa riders travelled 120 km, reaching Punta Alta and then paying a visit to the city's most important sites, as well as the Puerto Belgrano naval base and then the port of Bahía Blanca. With the support of “La Sociedad Italiana Union y Progreso de Punta Alta”.

This, then, is how the 10th anniversary of the Vespa Club Bahía Blanca was quite appropriately celebrated; the club itself planned and organised the two-day event on 23 and 24 August 2024. The dedication of all those involved - including Club President Andrés Florin and his management committee, along with the Italian Consulate, the municipalities of Bahía Blanca and Coronel Rosales, the Puerto Belgrano base and the Bahía Blanca Port Management Consortium - was rewarded by the success of the event. This was also mentioned on the Italian Government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation website - “The Vespa by Piaggio celebrated in Bahia Blanca as a universal symbol of Made in Italy”:
