ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2019: BIG CELEBRATION IN ROSARIO, AT THE ITALIAN CONSULATE IN ROSARIO AND VESPA MEETING

Rosario, a major Argentinian city (capital of the department of Santa Fe), 300 km north of the capital Buenos Aires, participated in 2019 Italian Design Day on March 22nd and 23rd 2019 with an event entitled “Dia del Design Italiano Vespa en la ciudad del futuro” (Italian Design Day-Vespa in the city of future, ed.), promoted by the General Consulate of Italy in Rosario and Piaggio dealer Motoplex with the support of prominent sponsors and the enthusiastic collaboration of Vespa Club de Rosario. Here is Angel La Fata’s video featuring glimpses of the famous “monumento a la bandera” (monument dedicate to the national flag, ed.).

Programme: Friday the 22nd was a special day at the consulate and its gardens, attended by members of the public and authorities featuring an exhibition of vintage and modern Vespa vehicles and a special theme dinner with a selection of Vespa in the elegant halls; on Saturday the 23rd Vespa riders gathered in front of the Consulate to parade through the city streets to the Museo de la Ciudad (City Museum), where a Vespa exhibition was set up. The rally included homage to Corradino d’Ascanio, the engineer who created the iconic Vespa, one of the world’s best-known items of design.

Martin Brook, General Consul of Italy in Rosario (shown in “Vespista” version for the event above; in the photo on the right he is along with Gabriel Brico, President of the Rosario Vespa Club), commented on the eve of the rally: “We’re going to have a big event about Vespa, not only as a symbol of the illustrious tradition of Italian design, but as an important component of tomorrow’s cities, thanks to the new technologies developed by the Piaggio Group (a reference to the new electric Vespa, ed.). Vespa is very popular here in Argentina, especially in Rosario, which has a very active Vespa Club… During the events of the 22nd and 23rd, our task will be to give voice to a living and growing passion. I’d like to take this opportunity to send my kindest regards, along with those of my 146 thousand fellow Italians in the Rosario consular district”. A beautiful opening message, for which we thank the Consul, followed by an unforgettable Vespa celebration. Here’s a gallery of photos by our Argentinian friends at Vespa Club Rosario – 30 years old this year! – and from the Consulate’s official twitter channel demonstrating how successful the event was.
