Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 5 February 2026 – As part of the sports diplomacy activities promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur launched the world preview of the first episode of “Moto d’Italia – Cultura oltre la pista” (Motorcycles of Italy - Culture beyond the track, ed.’s note). The audiovisual project is promoted by the Directorate General for Growth and the Promotion of Exports of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in close collaboration with MotoGP, the Italian Motorcycling Federation (FMI), ANCMA – National Association of Cycles, Motorcycles and Accessories, EICMA – International Exhibition of Cycles, Motorcycles and Accessories, and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE).
Structured as a four-episode mini-series, the project is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the Italian motorcycle supply chain—an excellence of Italian manufacturing and, at the same time, an integral part of Italian cultural identity, capable of bringing together industry, expertise, creativity, and passion.

The official launch of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship season held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur —one of the key events in global motorcycling—provides an ideal setting to highlight the content of the first episode of the series. Motorsport and the racetrack environment represent a point of convergence between competition, research, and vision.

In a choral narrative, the voices of company executives and institutional representatives intertwine with those of riders, engineers, designers, and technical professionals, conveying an "Italian method" based on the fusion of knowledge and the proximity of expertise. From this laboratory, the focus broadens to include Italian motorcycling culture, structured along complementary thematic axes—technology, design, regions, and landscape—that guide the various episodes and lead to the heart of the project: the excellence of the Italian two-wheeled industry, a recognizable model of quality, innovation, and Made in Italy identity worldwide.

“On the eve of the opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, the role of sport as a tool of diplomacy is further strengthened. Thanks to the strong collaboration with MotoGP, the Embassy wanted to dedicate today’s event to celebrating values and passion which inspire our athletes every day.

From two wheels to winter sports, today more than ever sport represents a bridge between our peoples and our cultures, while also generating new opportunities for companies operating in the sector,” said the Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia, Raffaele Langella.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, said: “MotoGP has deep roots in Italy’s racing heritage, and this project reflects how culture, technology, and sport come together to shape a story that goes far beyond the track. We are proud to support an initiative that celebrates Italian excellence and strengthens the connection between MotoGP and one of its most influential motorsport nations.

This event follows the broader system-wide action for growth, in particular the important international business-matching event “Racing beyond borders: Italy and the motorcycle passion,” organized in October 2025 by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) in Sepang during the Malaysian Grand Prix, together with MotoGP, the Italian Motorcycling Federation, the relevant trade associations, and the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur.
