July 2019 – Once again this year, Moto Guzzi and its official The Clan community participated in Wheels & Waves, in Biarritz (12-16 June 2019), the thrilling motorcycling festival on the French coast, now in its 8th edition. Here is the video.
“However, – The Clan points out – we did not ride all the way to Biarritz just to give ourselves over to the positive vibes and the rolling waves. We also threw ourselves into the fray. How? We took a Moto Guzzi V85 TT and we ‘lent’ it to a member of the French community to participate in the hardest, most sensational and muddy gentlemen’s race of the entire Wheels & Waves event: the Deus Swank Rally, which was held on 14 June 2019 in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle.”
But how did Fabien (who flaunted race number 85 as a tribute to the new Moto Guzzi bike) go on a mission for The Clan? And how did his muddy performance go (with no previous experience under his belt) astride an almost stock configuration V85 TT?

The Parisian himself, Fabien, talks about it in this The Clan video. Enjoy it, with just a touch of envy. In fact, many Guzzisti would have wanted to be in Fabien’s place, pushing the V85 TT to its limits on the unpaved track that winds through 6 km of uphills and downhills among curves and mud.
English translation of the video: “It is a festival with a truly fantastic atmosphere. The people are super equipped, both in terms of clothing and accessories. I really like it a lot. There are beautiful bikes and captivating events. It is a festival where you really see a lot of interesting things. Hi, I'm Fabien and I am from Paris. I am very, very happy to be participating in the Deus Swank Rally. I decided to take part in this competition because Moto Guzzi is a truly important brand for me. I was very happy and honoured to be able to represent it in this race. I basically expected a race like this, maybe with a bit less mud. It was very difficult in the muddy sections, but it is more or less what I expected. It was fantastic and I was very happy to be there. I was chosen by The Clan community after an online vote. There were 9 of us up for the chance to ride the bike today. So, obviously I wish to thank everyone who voted for me - there were a lot. It is also thanks to them if I can ride the V85 TT here. Well, we just took a small test lap with the bike. The race will start soon and I can’t wait to try it out on the circuit... And then, I didn’t ride the V85TT too badly during the festival. I love this bike. It is very agile and lets you turn very easily. The power is more than enough to have fun, the braking is good and it is very, very comfortable. On nice, dry terrain, it is truly extraordinary. It was really a beautiful day. I was very proud to participate in this competition and to be the official Moto Guzzi rider here this year. I am happy to have made it to the end of the race. I have my finisher medal and it is really the bomb - fantastic! A super race. I wish to thank all the participants who voted for me in The Clan Moto Guzzi.”
