THE PIAGGIO MUSEUM AT THE 12th EDITION OF “FLORENCE BIENNALE ART+DESIGN”, IN FLORENCE FROM 18 TO 27 OCTOBER 2019

October 2019 - The Florence Fortezza da Basso, from 18 to 27 October 2019, hosts “Florence Biennale Art+Design”, an International Modern Art and Design Exhibit. This is the 12th edition of the great Florentine festival that opens up to the world of design, with the central theme “Ars et Ingenium-Similitude and Invention, celebrating Leonardo da Vinci”.

The multiple languages of art meet the worlds of architecture, graphic arts and design in the area of creative industries, expressed by 700 established and up-and-coming artists and designers from all over the world. The Piaggio Museum (Pontedera, Pisa, Italy) attended with its own dedicated space, where two vintage vehicles are on display: a splendid 1957 Vespa GS 150 and a Vespa 150 S with Sidecar Boy, of Spanish origins, from the ’60s (editor’s note: in the photo above). The Florentine international exhibit is an ideal “showcase” for the promotion of the Piaggio Museum, expanded and enriched from 2018 with new halls and confirming its status as the largest motorcycle museum in Italy and one of the major European ones.

The vast schedule of Florence Biennale 2019 events also includes one on Thursday 24 October (at 2:00 p.m.) which anticipates a speech by Piaggio Foundation President Riccardo Costagliola and Marco Lambri, Piaggio Group Head of Design Centre, focusing on the history of Vespa, the design evolutions and the operations of the Style Centre.

There will also be Piaggio Group vehicles in the ADI stand (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) (Association for Industrial Design), which displays an important selection of Compasso d’Oro (Gold compass awards) winning products and those awarded with ADI Design Index recognition. The protagonists will include: Vespa 946, 2016 Compasso d’Oro honourable mention, Vespa Elettrica and Moto Guzzi V85 TT (both Index 2019).
