February 2018 – Something truly new has been seen on the streets of Los Angeles: GITA, the innovative creation by Piaggio Fast Forward, was in action as a mobile-carrier which “follows” its owner carrying their things and helping them with the chores of everyday life. The innovative cargo-robot also hit it off with the Commissioner of Miami City, in Florida, Ken Russell (in the photos below), at a meeting on the theme of urban mobility.
Then in January GITA winged its way to Saudi Arabia, to the King Abdullah University (for the 2018 Winter Enrichment Program on the theme of “Human, Machine, Future”) and amazed everyone.
School children also had fun with their teachers as they were “chased” by the stylish and colourful robot.
And GITA is also one of the finalists in the 2018 edition of the Interactive Innovation Awards, Smart Cities section, in Austin, Texas, promoted by SXSW.

And just a few months ago (December 2017), Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) was a winner with the GITA robot at the Good Design® Awards 2017 (67th edition) of the Chicago Athenaeum International Museum. PFF (Boston, Massachusetts, USA), a subsidiary of the Piaggio Group of which it is the most advanced research centre on the future of mobility, received one of the prestigious GOOD DESIGN® AWARDS 2017 which are among the leading and best-known international design awards (www.good-designawards.com).

The GOOD DESIGN® AWARDS is the third distinguished recognition in 2017 for Piaggio Fast Forward and the GITA project: in May it was the winner at the MITX Awards 2017 in the Disruptive Genius – Companycategory and in September it was named as one of the “Top 100 Most Innovative and Disruptive Construction Companies” in the Roboticscategory by the international publication Disruptor Daily. Piaggio Fast Forward presented its first innovative projects, GITA and KILO, for the future of mobility in Boston in February 2017.
Spark awards winners:
And, finally, GITA was also named one of the “TOP 10 ROBOTS OF 2017” by designboom®, the first and best-known international magazine on the digital world, design and architecture (founded in Milan in 1999) and included by TIME as among the top 100 design influencers in the world. We must also mention The Spark International Design Awards (New York City): guess who was among the winners of the last edition (2017) of the awards given to the best contemporary design and architecture creations? GITA!
The GITA and KILO revolution lies in the support the devices will be able to provide for people as they move around in their daily lives, extending their range of action. They are conceived as a mobility platform that can be personalised and enhanced to meet a variety of needs in multiple scenarios.
