PIAGGIO GROUP

INDIAN PRODUCTION ALREADY COMPATIBLE FOR SOME MONTHS WITH THE STRINGENT BHARAT STAGE IV EMISSIONS REGULATIONS

Milan, 30 March 2017 – The Piaggio Group said production began some months ago of 2-, 3- and 4-wheel vehicles compliant with the new emissions regulations, Bharat Stage IV, due to come into force on 1 April.

Specifically, the Aprilia SR 150 scooter launched on the Indian market in August 2016 has been compliant with the stringent emissions regulations since it went into production, while production of the Vespa models and the three- and four-wheel commercial vehicles in the Baramati facility (in the state of Maharashtra), has been compliant with the Bharat Stage IV standards since last February.

The Piaggio Group has always paid special attention to the engineering of its motor vehicles in order to minimise emissions, and its commitment has enabled it to comply with the new standards ahead of the April deadline, without the risk of adverse effects on production and sales.

Group dealers in India already stock Bharat Stage IV vehicles, and any residual inventories (equivalent at most to a few weeks of sales) will be managed as indicated by the emissions directive issued by the Indian Supreme Court.
