16 September 2024 - Since its début in 2021, the new-generation Piaggio Porter NP6 commercial vehicles have made their mark due to their unique qualities: they are easycompact and lightweight, whilst offering high performance, versatility, comfort and affordability. A first that the Porter NP6 range has achieved by combining the agility and ease-of-use that have always characterized Piaggio commercial vehicles, with levels of performance that are worthy of much more complex, bulky and expensive vehicles.
As such, the Porter NP6 has quickly become the ideal work companion for thousands of professionals, proving itself capable of meeting a wide variety of professional needs in the most challenging environments such as city centres, due to the fact that it was designed and developed to excel in short-haul freight transport applications.

This is all thanks to the Piaggio Porter's extraordinary ability to maximize the load capacity whilst offering manoeuvrability and compactness: key qualities that are increasingly in demand in congested traffic conditions, combined with safety and comfort on board as a priority.
Now, with the new 2025 range, the one and only true "City Truck" on the market is all new in every way. New interior fittings and new technical equipment mark a major step forward for the entire Porter range.
A significant amount of progress has been made with regard to safety aspects, with the adoption of a comprehensive range of electronic vehicle control, ride control and driver assistance systems.
These are part of an extremely comprehensive series of ADAS functions that work alongside the new fittings to offer an even higher level of comfort, as well as full compliance with GSR step 2 and cybersecurity regulations.

The new ADAS functions that extend the functionality and safety of the Porter NP6 include:
Parking Collision Warning (PCW). A system that uses ultrasonic sensors installed on the rear bumper to detect obstacles in the area around the vehicle, facilitating manoeuvres in tight spaces and while reversing.
Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEB). Using a front camera, this system detects potential collisions with vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists, providing a frontal collision warning and automatically braking to avoid impact or where relevant, reduce its severity.
Automatic braking, which is applied by the ESC system, is preceded by an acoustic warning. Emergency braking can be cancelled or deactivated by the driver.
Intelligent Speed Assistance System (ISA). This system automatically recognizes speed limit signs and warns the driver when these limits are exceeded: an intelligent function that uses the front camera to prevent one of the most dangerous traffic offences.
Driver Attention Warning System (DAW). This system makes use of a camera that monitors the driver: using a predictive algorithm which analyses posture and facial movements, it can alert the driver to possible fatigue or even drowsiness. It works with the ELKS system to prevent accidents and injuries.
Emergency Lane-Keeping System (ELKS). This important function can prevent unintentional lane changes and all the dangerous consequences associated with these. The system uses a front camera and relies on the capacity of the software to read road markings. The lane-keeping system features an acoustic alarm. This function can also be switched off.
But the 2025 version of the new Porter range also incorporates other important safety systems:
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). This is one of the most widely-used and important electronic driver assistance functions: it prevents skidding by stabilizing the vehicle in the most diverse, and potentially dangerous, driving conditions. The system intervenes by exerting braking pressure on one or more wheels or by adjusting the torque delivered.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Thanks to the system sensors, the function detects the rolling dynamics of the tyres, and thus the pressure in each tyre. Possible anomalies attributable to incorrect tyre pressure are thus signalled to the driver.
Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). This represents a big step forward in terms of safety as the brake is activated electrically at the touch of a button, and is therefore less prone to wear and tear. The new system introduces a number of new features on the Porter such as Autoapply (automatic application of the parking brake when the engine is switched off), Driveaway (automatic deactivation of the brake when the accelerator is depressed), Controlled Deceleration (hydraulic braking in an emergency via a button on the centre console) and Reverse Inhibition with automatic engagement of the brake in unsafe conditions.

New regulations, greater safety. The new Porter 2025 range also takes a big step forward in terms of cybersecurity, and complies with the new European GRS and cybersecurity regulations. The Porter's entire electronic architecture has been redesigned, with the new central gateway serving as a secure hub for interconnection and data processing.
The Porter range is also evolving in terms of passive safety too, and meets the latest and strictest regulations. Front, rear and side impact resistance has been improved to meet the new compulsory standards.

More comfort. The air-conditioned interior of the Porter has also been overhauled, with a view to creating a more comfortable environment. The new central console accommodates the new audio system with touchscreen DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radio and Bluetooth connection to external audio sources. The new TFT instruments also include a multilingual on-board computer. The central tunnel enables storage of small items, and is equipped with a convenient USB port. The new Porter 2025 range also boasts features such as electric headlamp level adjustment, electric windows, heated and electrically adjustable rear-view mirrors and colour-coordinated bumpers.

A record size/cargo capacity ratio. All vehicles in the Piaggio Porter NP6 range maximize load capacity without sacrificing on compactness and agility: two qualities that are increasingly in demand in busy urban environments.
The width of the cab is 1640 mm: these are numbers that are still 500 mm lower than the average of light commercial vehicles; the compact semi-cab over layout optimizes space, maximising the load capacity. All of this translates into a record size/cargo capacity ratio: in its most compact version, Piaggio Porter NP6 has a footprint on the ground of just 6.9 m², for an astonishing cargo capacity of 200 kg of every m² occupied.
The load capacity of the chassis is up to 1295 kg in the single-wheel rear axle version and 1640 kg in the optimus version, with a mass of no more than 2800 kg: The Porter NP6 is therefore able to carry a load greater than its own weight.
Big performance in a truly small truck. Such high performance in terms of effective cargo capacity, which is at the top of its class, is possible thanks to an authentic truck configuration: the frame, made of high resistance boxsection steel spars, welded and integral with the cab structure, guarantees sturdiness and low weight. The MacPherson front suspension and the rigid axle rear with double leaf parabolic springs, allow a cargo capacity of 1,000 kg on the front axle and up to 2,020 kg on the rear axle.
Safety and comfort on board. The Porter NP6 cab is a safe and comfortable environment, with an ergonomic driving position designed to offer wide and immediate visibility, thereby making driving and parking easier, thanks to the seats placed at the correct height and the small steering wheel.
When sitting in the driver's seat, the operator has the immediate sense of having everything under control, with an intuitive, quick-to-read instrument panel and an easily-accessible command unit to the left of the steering wheel. At the centre of the dashboard is the new central console, which houses the DAB radio with Bluetooth connection and the climate controls. A practical non-slip rubber housing is located in the upper part for a smartphone, complete with a USB charging port. There is a spacious glove compartment on the passenger’s side, in addition to a practical eyeglass holder on the dome light.
Standard equipment includes driver and passenger airbags, the eCall automatic emergency call system and electrically-folding, adjustable exterior mirrors with demisting function.

Flexible range: a Porter NP6 for every need. The option of combining short-wheelbase (L1) or long-wheelbase (L2) versions with single-wheel (SW) or twin-wheel (TW) rear axle makes the Porter NP6 range extremely comprehensive. What’s more, the two different axle ratios - standard and reduced - optimize consumption in the various types of use and facilitate work with heavy loads in steeply sloped conditions, increasing uphill pull-away capacity from a standstill.
The performance, technical equipment, robustness and versatility of the chassis ensure superb versatility: as such, the Chassis version is a perfect starting point for conversions that offer extraordinary performance. Porter NP6 is designed to easily adapt to a vast range of equipment packages and, consequently, specific missions, including urban logistics, food delivery, landscaping, maintenance, mobile workshops, construction, mobile billboards and public works. Also in the spirit of facilitating even outfitting destined for the most extreme tasks, Porter NP6 is installation-ready for power take-offs, which provide up to 16 kW of power: in addition to the engine, the power take-off can also be installed on the transmission, where it is geared down and easier to reach for equipment placed behind the cab.

The engines. The Porter engines reflect the vision of Piaggio Group and Piaggio Commercial, with a focus on reduced fuel consumptionenvironmental awareness and improved quality of life.
These two ultra-modern, high-tech CombiFuel engines both feature 1.5-litre, Euro 6Ebis-FCM inline four-cylinder units, distinguished by their combined petrol-LPG or petrol-methane fuel supply. The CombiFuel engines are available in three different versions, depending on the payload and autonomy provided by the LPG or methane system: the Short Range, dedicated to predominantly urban use, the Short Range Optimus, with increased load capacity and a range optimized for metropolitan use, and the Long Range, capable of both greater fuel autonomy and a higher load capacity.
The engine is a 1498 CC four-cylinder model, with aluminium alloy crankcase and cylinder head: it is compliant with the Euro 6Ebis-FCM standards. It has a chain 16-valve timing system with dual overhead cam and double phasing on intake and exhaust. A small displacement engine with reduced operating costs, but capable of significant performance: the maximum power is 78 kW at 6,000 rpm, while the maximum torque is 136 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
Depending on the version, the fuel system uses one or more high-pressure tanks located under the load bed, so they do not have any impact on Porter NP6’s cargo carrying capacity. The tanks are securely fixed to the frame and made of high strength, tempered steel. The vehicle is designed to operate in gas mode by default, except the engine-start phase which is in petrol mode and then automatically switched over once operating temperature is reached, but in any case there is a switch on the right side of the steering wheel to manually switch modes. The button also has four LEDs indicating the gas level in the tank, while the indicator lamp that lights up when the vehicle is running on gas.

Colours. The Porter NP6 is available in six colours: Amber Orange, Garnet Red, Basalt Grey, Marble White, Opal Blue and Limasa Green.
