12 July 2018 – Kobi, the manager of OFER MOTOR CO. LTD., the Israeli importer for the Piaggio, Vespa, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and Gilera brands, told us: “This morning, the news section of Yediot Acharonot, Israel’s most widely read daily newspaper, published an article on the female paramedics who ride Piaggio MP3 three-wheelers as members of the emergency response scooter unit of the RED SHIELD OF DAVID (RSD), Israel’s national Red Cross, Magen David Adom.”

The article by Rotem Elizera is headlined “Angels on wheels”, namely Asala, Orit, Sharon, Lita, Louise and Stephanie. The women are some of the volunteers of the RSD scooter unit, and they have one goal arrive quickly and save lives. The six women (aged from 30 to 50) devote their personal time to a truly special mission. They all have day jobs (architect, paramedic, therapist, vet, ambulance driver, college professor) and families to look after. In other words, they are very busy women, but, when the phone rings and their help is needed, they don’t think twice: they drop everything, jump on their versatile, comfortable and high-performance Piaggio three-wheelers and ride off to provide primary response, as the scooter enable them to move swiftly through the traffic.
As the article explains, the scooter unit has approximately 550 vehicles (including a current fleet of more than 200 Piaggio MP3 scooters; the close supply partnership was set up some years ago: to date, through its importer OFER MOTOR, Piaggio has supplied RSD with more than 450 three-wheel maxi scooters, with customized liveries and ad hoc equipment): its aim is to provide an initial response at emergency scenes, which scooters can reach faster than other vehicles. Each three-wheeler is equipped with resuscitation medication, medical kits and a defibrillator. Chylic Moyale, the manager of the RSD scooter unit, explains that the volunteers have already saved many lives, setting off day or night, summer or winter, and arriving first at the scene. We’re happy to help others in difficult times, say the “angels on wheels”.
