UP DESIGN CHAIRMAN UMBERTO PALERMO: “STREE UP IS AN EXAMPLE OF ALL-ITALIAN EXCELLENCE WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE THE VEHICLE WITH A SARTORIAL INTERIOR AND OPTIMISE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.”
Pontedera, 4 May 2017 – UP Design, a style centre that specialises in industrial design in Italy and worldwide, has presented Street UP: the new brand offers traders, companies, franchising operators and outfitters extreme flexibility and freedom in creating bespoke interiors for Ape Piaggio commercial vehicle. The first Street UP vehicles by UP Design are already operational, in and outside Italy.
The event on 4 May (attended by the Piaggio Commercial Vehicles direction) was an opportunity to present the innovative platform – a modular system for personalised outfitting of vehicles used by street food, retail and fashion traders – to the media, operators and the public.
The new assembly kit is a true international revolution in “street vending”; it can be ordered with or without a vehicle, and has been designed for delivery all over the world. Thanks to the detailed instructions, it can also be assembled in third-party workshops.
Fine-quality materials, dimensional flexibility, rapid construction and light-weight components are the system’s key strengths. Laminate or aluminium honeycomb panels, precision mechanical elements, industrial-automation guide-ways are just some of the technological solutions, while aluminium, iron and wood are the chosen materials for complete recycling.
The Street Up module is available in two versions:
THE LAUNCH EVENT AT PIAGGIO MUSEUM. UP Design chairman Umberto Palermo said: “STREET UP is an example of all-Italian excellence whose mission is to provide the vehicle with a sartorial interior and optimise business opportunities.”
The Street UP kit was designed specifically for the Ape Piaggio. So it was appropriate that the presentation of the new technology should be hosted at the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera, which, with the Piaggio Historical Archive, is one of the most important industrial archives in Europe.
