May 2019 – During the major event Euroape 2019, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Ape 50, two new products were presented: Ape Classic Furgone (Van) and Ape Calessino MY 2019, which made their debut on the special anniversary, celebrated in Pontedera, in Tuscany, last April. The two models – which have marked the history of Piaggio branded commercial vehicles – have been renewed in their look, while keeping unchanged their unmistakeable glamorous, elegantly chic style.
Ape Classic Furgone: original vintage style. Unique thanks to its vintage chassis, Ape Classic Furgone stands out for its elegant and inimitable style. Thanks to its 675 kg payload and large storage space, with a fully useable 2m³, it can meet transport and delivery needs in an urban environment, placing itself at the top of the short-range category.
With the Ape Classic Furgone it is also possible to customise it for your business thanks to the design, which facilitates the application of advertising panels on the sides, which are made in a coverable material. Original outside and functional inside, thanks to threaded inserts located along the structure of the box which allow the installation of shelves, which can be used to repair work material and to facilitate unloading.
Ape Calessino MY 2019: no one like it. Re-introduced in 2007 and inspired by the roaring '50s, Ape Calessino has amazed with its success due not only to the charm of the product, but also its extraordinarily versatile use.
Designed to comfortably take two passengers plus the driver, it is a highly original vehicle which stands out thanks to its personality and a design which is unique of its kind and which, after giving the world an exclusive interpretation of urban transport, is now on offer once again in a renewed look. Ape Calessino MY 2019 stands out for the chassis, which has been, redesigned in the rear, where there are now lights with fresher and more dynamic lines, a perfect combination of Italian tradition and modernity. The colour range has also been renewed, with the already well-known Artic White and Western Red being joined by the new Neptune Blue, a fresh interpretation of classic yachting colours.
Fifty years of Ape 50. Ape 50 was created in 1969 with the aim of replicating in the field of light transport the success enjoyed in the two-wheel sector by the Vespa 50, which was launched in 1964. With its small 50cc engine, in a short time the "Apino" (means the little Ape) became an essential workmate thanks to a transport capacity, which is incredible if compared to its engine size and small dimensions. These enable it to pass easily through the tightest backstreets in historic city centres.
In 1994 the successful Ape 50 Cross version came out and is aimed at the numerous youngsters who use the Ape as an alternative to two wheel transport: roll-bar, front and rear metal bumpers and dedicated colour range make it a genuine mini pick-up, safe and with a feisty look. It can be driven on just the "mini-licence" from the age of 14, Ape 50 continues today to be a young vehicle, which is in step with the times.
The last version came out in 2018, with the introduction of an innovative 50cc, 2-stroke engine with a cut-off system, secondary air and expansion chamber, capable of complying with the stringent Euro 4 regulations on emissions without sacrificing performance. Ape 50 Euro 4 has also benefited from further significant improvements in terms of its look, practicality and safety.
