19 January 2021 - The online version of the authoritative Forbes magazine (Lifestyle section/Cars & Bikes), in an article by Josh Max published at the end of December, revealed to its readers which five stylish scooters they should try in 2021, and two are from the Piaggio Group: Piaggio Beverly and Vespa Primavera. It is actually an encore endorsement, because last year, also in Forbes, Josh Max had also named some Piaggio Group vehicles among the 5 best scooters: Piaggio Beverly 350 Tourer, Vespa Primavera 50 and Vespa Elettrica.

This year, the choices of the journalist’s – who defines himself as “a New Yorker who grew up next to a garage” – are, more than anything else, confirmation: he places the new Piaggio Beverly (and Beverly S version) in first place for his top-five list, which once again includes the Vespa Primavera 50 in third place. And how can you blame him? They are two perfect models for urban commuting, agile and stylish to zip through the city streets.
Josh, who is a motorcyclist, but certainly has no disdain for scooters, writes: “A city with scooters zipping around is a sign of a civilized Western society, I say. And don’t we need more of that in 2021?” Of course, we do! On two wheels, free to travel, physically distanced and completely safe.

“It’s Beverly’s 20th birthday this coming year, and the lineup - Beverly and Beverly S - have been majorly refreshed and reconfigured with new frames, two new motors and dramatically different bodywork. What I like about this model”, Josh continues, “is its stated goal of providing great get-around-town service, but highway travel as well.” He highlights the pros: from more powerful engines to digital instrumentation to elegant design.

For the iconic Vespa Primavera, Josh points out a range of characteristics that he appreciates: “a plethora of all-new features like increased space between the saddle and handlebar, a lower saddle height and increased wheelbase and length to help keep you upright. LED daylight running lights and tail light come with as do new digital instruments including a trip computer. An air-cooled, 4-stroke 3v 50 cc engine boosts your mileage and reduces emissions...”

And he also recommends buying a Vespa backpack, perfect for your laptop, lunch or what-have-you. He also applauds the improved fork, which “helps keep you steady-as-she goes, there’s chrome aplenty, and 12-inch wheels can handle rough roads where you encounter them.”
