DONINGTON: ANOTHER PODIUM FOR MAXIMILIAN SCHEIB!

SECOND AND FOURTH PLACE FOR APRILIA RACING TEAM. THIRD CONSECUTIVE PODIUM FOR MAXIMILIAN SCHEIB, FINISHING SECOND. LUCA VITALI FOURTH FOR HIS BEST RESULT OF THE SEASON. NEXT RACE: 10 JUNE 2018 ON THE CZECH CIRCUIT OF BRNO.

Donington (UK), 27 May 2018 – Outstanding performance for the Aprilia Racing Team at Donington at the half-way stage of the Superstock 1000 championship. Sunday was already off to a good start in the morning during warm up when the riders managed to do respectable times astride their Aprilia RSV4 FW-STK bikes. A lot of work was done throughout the weekend on dialling in the setup to manage the fifteen race laps in the best possible way.

When the red lights went out, some excellent clutch handling shot Maximilian Scheib into second place straight away, hot on the leader's pipes throughout the entire race. During the final lap, the Chilean dug deep and showed all of the character that makes him stand out when, with no tyre left, he was overtaken by Tamburini but then immediately took back the position. It was a photo finish for the South American, defending his second place all the way to the end.

Luca Vitali lost a few positions at the start, then recovering in the very early stages, turning a series of flawless laps. The Italian did his best times on an open track, closing the gap behind the leading group and moving into fourth place, which he successfully held onto all the way to the end of the race.

Both riders had their best placements of the current season. At the end of the fourth round, Maximilian Scheib is lying third in the overall standings, just eleven points behind second place and Luca Vitali has now managed to move into fifth place. Today's excellent performance also shoots Aprilia into second place in the manufacturer standings.
The next Superstock 1000 round is set for the weekend of 10 June on the Czech circuit of Brno.

MAXIMILIAN SCHEIB (bike no. 7): "I was able to be very fast, managing to maintain an excellent pace in the early part of the race. In the finale, the bike moved around a lot and I had to slow down a bit. The team did an outstanding job on my RSV4 FW-STK. We are just at the mid-season point and we won't back down all the way to the last lap of the last race."

LUCA VITALI (bike no. 70): "It was a good race. I always manage to start strong, but this time I wasn't able to. That is the only negative about today. After the start I was very aggressive straight away, managing to recover the lost positions. We found an excellent solution on the front for my Aprilia and a setting that, on the whole, lets me ride fast without struggling. We are improving more and more and after the good performance this weekend, how can we not aim for the podium?"
