MOTOGP 2024 – PREVIEW GP 6 SPAIN

EVERYTHING READY FOR APRILIA RACING IN MONTMELÓ: HOME RACE FOR VIÑALES AND ESPARGARÓ AFTER THE HISTORIC ONE-TWO LAST YEAR

21 May 2024 - Aprilia Racing is headed back to the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya for the sixth GP of the season. The track evokes great memories for the manufacturer from Noale, which dominated last year with two wins for Aleix and two podium finishes for Maverick, with a historic one-two in the long race.

Maverick Viñales is ready to battle in the top spots after another solid performance in Le Mans, with a podium finish in the Sprint Race. This was a particularly encouraging result in view of the weekend in Montmeló, where last year he finished third on the sprint and second in the race.

Aleix Espargaró is determined to demonstrate his worth on his home track. Last year, the Spaniard had a perfect weekend, winning both the Sprint Race and the Sunday GP.

The Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya is a highly technical track, where flowing smoothly through the turns is decisive. The first braking section is also important, one of the most demanding in the championship, partly because of the 1,047 metres of straight ahead of it.

MAVERICK VIÑALES, #12: "Montmeló is a track that I like. I have a lot of good memories. When I’m here, I think of Luis Salom and that is great motivation for me. It’s my home race and my whole fan club is there, so it’s a track where I really want to do well.

We are ready to have a good weekend. Our mentality is to stay focused, so we’ll do well and to give it one hundred percent."

ALEIX ESPARGARÓ, #41: "Barcelona is a track that I really like a lot – It’s my home race. The track suits my style well because there are fast turns and not many slow hairpins. It’s a track where the bike works well. Last year it was the best weekend of my life, and it won’t be easy to repeat that, but we’ll try to give it our all and get back out front."
