October 2019 - On Sunday, 13 October 2019, Jairo García was crowned classic motocross Champion of Spain in the 125cc Pre-83 category astride a vintage Aprilia (racing number 71), winning the two races in the final championship round – RFME Trofeo Nacional - held on the Montgai El Cluet circuit in Lleida, Catalonia. It is a legendary circuit, where vintage World Cup motocross races have also been held.
Jairo participated in the 2019 Spanish Championship (tenth edition), which included 6 rounds held on various national circuits, with a 1979 Aprilia Mx cross bike, the same one his father had ridden to win the Asturias championship of the same year, 40 years ago.
Back in the day, he and his brother, who manage the El Riberu workshop in Amandi (in the Asturian town of Villaviciosa), recovered the motorcycle in Barcelona, restored it, and now, 4 decades later, Jairo has won the most important national classic motocross championship astride the “family” Aprilia.
