2021 EDITION

MOTO GUZZI FAST ENDURANCE EUROPEAN CUP 2021

THE THIRD EDITION OF THE EAGLE BRAND CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINS, VALID AS A EUROPEAN CUP, ALREADY WITH A RECORD NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 31 TEAMS AND 62 RIDERS. GREAT BATTLES IN BOTH THE “MINI ENDURANCE” RACES, WON BY THE BENTIVOGLI-BIANCHI DUO. NEXT ROUND IN VALLELUNGA ON 4 JULY.

Varano de’ Melegari (Parma, Italy), 23 May 2021 - The Varano raceway christened the third edition of the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance championship, the single-brand trophy dedicated to pairs of riders astride Moto Guzzi V7 III bikes fitted with the GCorse Racing Kit and Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp RS tyres, now valid as a FIM European Cup.

No fewer than 31 teams competed in the first two “mini endurance” races scheduled at the Parma circuit for a total of 62 enthusiastic riders: record participation that once again demonstrates the validity of a “single-brand” championship which, although growing and taking on an international dimension, continues to offer the same, friendly and relaxed atmosphere that made it a success from its inception, in 2019.

Activity on the track was already underway on Friday, 21 May, with the timed practice sessions to decide the starting order for both the race on Saturday and the race on Sunday. Taking the “double” pole position was the pair of riders on team Altinier Motorsport & Biker’s Island, made up of Emiliano Bellucci and Tommaso Totti, whose best-time average was 1’19”781. Behind them on the grid were the VMS Benty 2 (Paolo Bentivogli - Giorgio Bianchi) and CheMoto! Roma (Sauro Valentini - Domenico Valenza) teams.

In the first race on Saturday, team VMS Benty 2, making their début in the Cup, took the lead in the early stages, only relinquishing it briefly after the first rider change to team Motoclub dei Rapaci (Luca Fornasiero - Mauro Rossignoli). After taking back the lead, the Bentivogli-Bianchi duo pulled away from team CheMoto! Roma, who finished second ahead of Garage 71 (Davide Rossi - Samuele Colonna), managing to finish on the third step of the podium just a few minutes after the chequered flag came out. Finishing fourth were the “pole men” of Altinier Motorsport & Biker’s Island, slowed by a less-than-perfect start but pulling off a good comeback ride.

A race almost entirely in the lead and near flawless on Sunday as well for VMS Benty 2, whereas there was a heated battle behind them for the other two steps of the podium: Team Pablo (Paolo Rovelli - Francesco Curinga) battled first with team Altinier Motorsport & Biker’s Island, which fell victim to a crash about halfway through the race, forcing them to retire, after which Paolo Rovelli had to defend second place, fending off the attacks of Domenico Valenza (CheMoto! Roma), managing to pull it off in the final stretch by less than two tenths of a second. Farther behind were Garage 71, fourth, and Guaracing Factory Team 1 (Gianfranco Rubini - Jacopo Rizzardi), who repeated their fifth place finish from Race 1.
After the first two races, Team VMS Benty 2 leads in the overall Cup standings, taking all 40 points, closely followed by CheMoto! Roma (32 points), Garage 71 (28) and Team Pablo (27).
