APRILIA RACING RIDERS, ALEIX ESPARGARO' AND SCOTT REDDING, ARE CONFIDENT AFTER TESTING IN BARCELONA.
Assen (Netherlands), 26 June 2018 – Any time Assen is mentioned, inevitably one thinks of the tradition of an iconic circuit that has hosted spectacular World Grand Prix motorcycle races nonstop since 1949. It is a track that has been significantly modified over the course of its history, but which maintains a particular charm. This is due not only to its technical and demanding layout, but also to the warmth of the vast and knowledgeable audience.
These spectators must often withstand less than comfortable weather conditions, another characteristic of the Dutch track that can have an impact on the work that teams and riders must carry out during the weekend.
Aleix Espargaró is arriving in Assen with the goal of making up ground that was lost in Barcelona. Comforted by the feedback from the test immediately following the unfortunate Spanish race, as always, Aleix is keen to play a prominent role astride his Aprilia RS-GP. Feelings are good for Scott Redding who, with a shrewdly ridden race with no mistakes, finished in his best position of the season in Barcelona.
ALEIX ESPARGARO' (bike no. 41): “It is always a pleasure to ride in Assen, the Cathedral. It's a track where I have always been quite good. I think this layout can also adapt well to our bike, because there are many fast corners where you don't stop the bike totally.
Hopefully the weather will be good, but you never know in the Netherlands. I hope to do a good race because we deserve it. Can't wait to start the action!”
SCOTT REDDING (bike no. 45): “Assen is a track that I like. I would be very pleased if the Aprilia adapts well to the Dutch circuit. I have always had fun on this track. I have a lot of friends in the area and it is always a pleasant weekend.
The weather conditions don't worry me. In fact, a bit of rain would be fine with me, given my performance on a wet track.”
