MOTOGP PREVIEW – GP 9 GERMANY

NINTH ROUND OF THE SEASON IN GERMANY

ALEIX ESPARGARO' AND SCOTT REDDING, RIDERS OF APRILIA RACING, PUT TO THE RESULTS. APPOINTMENT ON THE SACHSENRING TRACK, 13-15 JULY 2018.

For the ninth round of the season, MotoGP 2018 is preparing to take on the shortest track on the calendar. In fact, it will be the 3,671 metres of the Sachsenring in Germany hosting the next round of the premier category, the last one before a brief summer break. It is a decidedly particular circuit. With only 3 right-handers and no less than 10 left-handers, the German track demands great efforts from technicians and riders alike to find the ideal setup.

Last year, the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini was one of the protagonists in Germany, with Aleix Espargaró finishing seventh after remaining stably in the top 5 during the timed sessions and earning a spot on the third row of the starting grid. Scott Redding has been on an upward trend for the last couple of races with the clearest progress in the last race at Assen, so the rider is keen to confirm this trend on Saxony soil.

ALEIX ESPARGARO' (bike no. 41): “In the last race before the summer break, my goal is to take home a good result. In Assen we were competitive throughout the weekend. The only session we missed the mark on was the race. The Sachsenring is not my favourite track in terms of layout, but we have always done rather well here. Even last year, I finished seventh with an excellent pace.”

SCOTT REDDING (bike no. 45): “The Sachsenring has a lot of long corners that you go through without braking - not our strong point - but it is also a narrow and twisty track that could help us. I am coming from two positive races where I had fun riding. With Aprilia, every track is new for me, so I don't know what to expect, but in terms of mind-set, I want to take on every session without too many complications, just thinking about doing as well as possible.”
