DOUBLE PODIUM FOR LORENZO SAVADORI IN SUPERBIKE WITH HIS APRILIA RSV4 FW-STK. IMPORTANT POINTS FOR FEDERICO D’ANNUNZIO. EDDI LA MARRA ALSO WINS THE FINAL RACE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WITH APRILIA RSV4 1100 FACTORY EMPHASISING HIS DOMINATION. SECOND PODIUM IN A ROW FOR ALEX SGROI IN THE NATIONAL TROPHY 1000.
Campagnano (Rome province, Italy), 6 October 2019 - At Autodromo Piero Taruffi circuit in Vallelunga, the final round of the Campionato Italiano Velocità (Italian Speed Championship) took place. It was a double Superbike race for Lorenzo Savadori and Federico D’Annunzio. Single race for Eddi La Marra, already crowned champion a round early, and for Alex Sgroi.
SUPERBIKE RACE 1. It was a perfect start in Superbike Race 1 for Lorenzo Savadori (moto no. 32) who moved ahead of the rest immediately after the start. There was a battle for the lead with Michele Pirro during the fifth lap when the Cesena native lost first place, settling in behind the new leader. Savadori had a great pace, managing to finish second when the chequered flag came out.
It was a weak start for Federico D’Annunzio, starting from the fourth row, and at the end of the first lap, he was outside the points zone. The Pescara native managed to establish himself in the central group, first moving into the points zone and then finishing fourteenth.

SUPERBIKE RACE 2. It only took a few laps in Race 2 for Lorenzo Savadori to ride his APRILIA RSV4 FW-STK to second place. He managed to move up to one second from the leader, but he was unable to launch an attack for the win. The Cesena native finished second at the end of an extremely competitive race where he was able to improve his Race 1 time by almost four seconds.
The lights went out to signal the start of Race 2 and Federico D’Annunzio, starting from the tenth spot on the grid, was in sixteenth place at the end of the first lap. It was an uphill race all the way for the Abruzzo native who, lap after lap, was able to overcome his rival, clawing his way up to eleventh place in a race where he managed to improve on his Race 1 time by almost eight seconds.
NATIONAL TROPHY. Eddi La Marra started well astride his Aprilia in a special gold livery to celebrate winning the championship a round early. From the third spot on the grid, the Ferentino (Frosinone province in Lazio region) native immediately put the rest of the pack in his exhaust, managing to maintain first place from start to finish. La Marra won the race, making this five wins out of seven races held, a championship dominated in confirmation of the outstanding Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory project.

At the start, Alex Sgroi rode his Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory into the battle for third straight away, making the position his already on the fourth lap. With open track ahead, he managed to set his pace, striving in vain to move into second, but he lost ground and slipped back to fifth. It was a heart-stopping final lap when the Catania native managed to move from fifth place, first into fourth, which he lost straight away, but a few turns later he was able to get past two rivals, celebrating the last race of the championship with an outstanding third-place finish.
For Nuova M2 Racing, this closed out a superb season which will go down in history. A championship win in National Trophy 1000 with Eddi La Marra, winning from the opening race with the brand new RSV4 1100 Factory. Great success in Superbike with Lorenzo Savadori who, astride his Aprilia RSV4 FW-STK, smashed Ducati’s domination, taking home an impressive three wins in addition to another six podium finishes. Alex Sgroi’s consistent growth astonished everyone. His second and third place finishes in the final two races clinched the Catania native’s well-deserved third place in the championship. Aprilia surpassed all the manufacturers in the National Trophy 1000 and consolidated an excellent second place in the premier Italian championship. It was the top ten for Federico D’Annunzio who, race after race, managed to find the right feeling that let him improve his performance on the track consistently.

Lorenzo Savadori – Superbike (bike no. 32): “A double second place. From Thursday, the team and I saw that the track had very little grip, so we were in a bit of trouble. In Race 1 I tried to stay ahead in the early laps, but I was unable to stay with Pirro. For the race today, we tried to find a bit of traction on my Aprilia RSV4 FW-STK and we succeeded only partially. That is why I have somewhat of a bitter taste in my mouth, because I would have liked to have a go with Pirro at least in the opening laps.

I am satisfied with this season. We started at the last minute without doing any tests and managing to grow throughout the season, bringing home important results. Here in CIV, the level is very high, and we were able to lower our times, even compared to the past years. For all this, I wish to thank Fausto Gresini and Enzo Chiapello who, along with Aprilia Racing and all the sponsors and the hard work of Nuova M2 Racing, made this high-level season possible.”

Federico D’Annunzio – Superbike (bike no. 41): “I started out really pumped for the Roman round, but it turned out to be a difficult and uphill weekend, because I suffered from a bit of lack of power on my Aprilia. Add to that an injury to my knee when it hit a bollard on the track. We found the right settings for Race 2, which was a lot better than Race 1. I wish to thank the team and all the sponsors who made this season in CIV possible.”

Eddi La Marra - National Trophy 1000 (bike no. 47): “For the entire weekend I worked with Nuova M2 Racing to prepare for the race and, for that reason, I expected to be competitive, but I never would have expected to be able to go this fast. Vallelunga is a track that I like and I'm happy to have won here in front of my fans, my friends and the sponsors who made this championship win possible. I really wish to thank Nuova M2 Racing, because in all the races, they gave me an incredible Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, perfect in every situation to be able to bring the title home. Congratulations to Alex Sgroi because he finished on the podium for the second time in a row and I did not expect that.”

Alex Sgroi - National Trophy 1000 (bike no. 33): “To be honest, this was an unexpected third place, because the weekend did not exactly start out the best way. I didn't lap very much here at Vallelunga, but little by little, with consistency and a lot of work by Nuova M2 Racing, we were able to improve more and more. Yesterday, we managed to find the right setup for my RSV4 1100 and consequently, the times dropped. I wish to thank the team, because they gave me a perfect bike, my friends who came to watch the race, and the sponsors who help me a lot.”
