MOTOGP PREVIEW – GP 14 SPAIN

PENULTIMATE EUROPEAN CHALLENGE FOR APRILIA AT MOTORLAND ARAGÓN

THE RACE ON SUNDAY 23 SEPTEMBER 2018, ON AN IMPENDING CIRCUIT. MEANTIME, THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE RS-GP CONTINUES IN OPTICAL 2019.

Alcaniz (Spain), 18 September 2018–Motorland Aragón will be hosting the penultimate 2018 MotoGP European round ahead of the long transfer to Thailand, Japan, Australia, Malaysia and the final round in Valencia.

It is a complex circuit, characterized by both a long straight that lasts almost a kilometer and demanding direction and slope changes. The weather is often marked by rather high temperatures, which force riders and teams to carefully analyze tyre wear in order to maintain the best possible pace for all 23 laps in the race on Sunday.

Aprilia is headed to Aragón with the goal of continuing development of the RS-GP, a must to stay competitive in a championship that is more competitive than ever. Two days of testing after the Misano race were helpful both to prepare for the upcoming races and to lay the foundation for the work that must be done in the 2019 season.

ALEIX ESPARGARO' (bike no. 41): “Last year I was very competitive in Aragón. Repeating that performance will not be easy. The championship level has gone up incredibly and we need to continue working non-stop to close the gap behind the leaders. The Misano tests were truly important. I hope to take another step forward and to be able to battle consistently in the top 10.”

SCOTT REDDING (bike no. 45): “Aragón is not a simple circuit to tackle, but I like it. After the Misano test, I think I'll be able to recover a bit of competitiveness. We need to have realistic goals: working well to prepare for the race, making the right choices and battling in the points zone.”
