ITALIAN SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP

PODIUM FOR NUOVA M2 RACING WITH APRILIA RSV4 FW-STK

THIRD PLACE FOR ANDREA MANTOVANI AT HIS FIRST SUPERBIKE PODIUM. MATTEO BAIOCCO (4TH IN RACE 1) CRASHES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE GAP BEHIND THE LEADERS.

Mugello Circuit, Scarperia (Italy), 6 May 2018 – An exciting Race 2 of the Italian Superbike Racing Championship (CIV) for Nuova M2 Racing team with Andrea Mantovani riding his Aprilia RSV4 FW-STK Nuova M2 Racing to a third place finish, earning his first Superbike podium. The teammate Matteo Baiocco lost a few positions at the start and was delayed by a few slower riders: he crashed on his final attempt to close the gap behind the podium contenders.

Andrea Mantovani (bike no. 9): “A stupendous race. I managed to push hard with my Aprilia RSV4 FW-STK right from the early laps. I stayed on Ferrari's pipes, trying to ride my race and thinking of attacking him in the final laps, but in reality I felt like I was very much at the limit toward the end, so I preferred bringing home a great third place after even taking a few risks.

I wish to thank Nuova M2 Racing who understood what I needed and from yesterday to today they allowed me to improve greatly. Sincere thanks also to my sponsors andmoto club Conselice. Everyone is a big help, allowing me to continue giving 100%”.

Matteo Baiocco (bike no. 15): “It's a pity because I had a good pace. I could have battled for the podium, but starting so far back, I had to take a risk to close the gap and I crashed. I am also very sorry for team Nuova M2 Racingwho worked hard all weekend to put me in conditions to be able to ride better. Congratulations to my teammate Andrea who did a great job in this fourth race of the Italian Superbike Championship”.
