MARCO BEZZECCHI AND LORENZO SAVADORI AT WORK ON THE RS-GP25. JORGE MARTÍN RETURNS TO EUROPE FOR SURGERY
Sepang (Malaysia), 6 February 2025 - Work on Aprilia Racing's development continued on the second of three days of testing at Sepang with Marco Bezzecchi and Lorenzo Savadori - the latter of whom replaced Jorge Martín, who was declared unfit after the first day of testing.
The focus of the day was on trying out a number of new items that will be implemented from the start of the season, beginning with the generic set-up of the RS-GP25. In addition, on the basis of the shakedown and the comments provided by Marco Bezzecchi, further electronic updates were trialled at the track, as well as a number of different aerodynamic configurations which both riders put to the test.
Marco Bezzecchi continued the process of adaptation to the RS-GP25, reiterating his positive feelings. On the second day of testing, he completed a total of 61 laps with a best time of 1:57.995, finishing in ninth position.
On the other side of the box, Lorenzo Savadori picked up where he left off on the development programme that began during the shakedown, this time riding Jorge Martín's bike, completing 51 laps and recording a best time of 1:59.771.

Jorge Martín, who fractured his right hand as well as sustaining fractures in his left foot, will undergo surgery on Friday 7 February at the Clinica Quirón Dexeus in Barcelona.
MARCO BEZZECCHI, #72: “It was an important day, and we did well. We are continuing to work on a number of different aspects of the electronics and the aerodynamics, as well as various new elements of the RS-GP25. On this, the second day, we achieved some good results, so I’m very happy. Clearly we still have a lot to test, but we've got another day and we’ll try to make the most of it. It’s a real shame about Jorge's injury, I hope he’s back in the box soon.”
LORENZO SAVADORI, #32: “We’re pushing ahead with the development work, especially in terms of aerodynamics and electronics. These aspects take a lot of time, including in terms of performance, because we have to find the best way to move forwards, and there are still so many elements to be tested. All the best to Jorge and Raúl for a speedy recovery.”
