In Bahrain, the Aprilia RS4 is the star of the “BSBK Academy”, the Middle East’s first motorcycle riding school. The Bahrain Superbike Championship (BSBK) is a keenly followed event, organised by Moto Gulf Events and supported by the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF). It is a unique motorcycle championship in the Kingdom of Bahrain and a first for the region. The championship is a 12-race season held over a period of six months, with riders from around the world.
BSBK launched its first motorcycle academy in 2017, and the initiative was an immediate success. It provides participants with various levels of training: basic, intermediate and advanced. The aim of the BSBK Academy is to teach beginners how to ride a motorbike on the track, and to provide safety training. The academy is the first of its kind in the Middle East and its courses make exclusive use of Aprilia RS4 motorbikes.
The Academy made its debut with a “nocturnal” event on 8 June, followed by two other sessions on 15 and 16 June, all at the outstanding location of the Bahrain International Circuit. All the places were immediately sold out, with new courses planned for July. The Academy caters for various skill levels, in a closed and safe environment. The courses are led by Hussain AlKooheji (http://www.wheelsofarabia.com), a 5-times Superbike champion and internationally renowned certified coach. On completing the course, all participants receive attendance certificates. The Academy “students” become part of the larger BSBK family, whose members share a passion for motorcycle competitions, and are kept up to date with BSBK activities.
After the successful 2017 debut (which received wide media coverage), the Academy will continue to provide professional training classes at the BIC throughout the year, to promote a safe motorcycle riding culture.
