September 2023 (G.T.) – On the road again. A comprehensive tour of the country that is the true gateway to Africa is the perfect taste of this fascinating continent. It has been the meeting point for all the main Mediterranean civilizations for thousands of years, each of them leaving their indelible mark on the region’s culture. There were the Numidians and the Punic people, the Phoenicians who founded Carthage, which the ancient Romans then destroyed and rebuilt to create their African capital. Then came the Arabs with the holy city of Kairouan with its great mosque, the medinas of Sousse (Unesco World Heritage Site) and Sfax, the souks and the kasbahs.
