Tel Aviv, 31 August 2018 – 70 motorcyclists from the RSD (Red Shield of David-RSD-Magen David Adom, the Israeli national Red Cross, ed.), who save lives when called to emergency scenes 24 hours a day throughout the year, took part in a salute ride to honour of the RSD emergency scooter team, consisting of 600 Piaggio MP3 scooters, 48 of which were added recently to the fleet. The event included professional seminars for the riders on the treatment and maintenance of the Piaggio MP3, as well as a talk about riding the scooter, especially in emergency conditions. It began at 9 a.m., at the border guard monument on route 65 by the Earon intersection, and travelled south on highway no. 2.

Later, the motorcyclists split into two groups to meet the public at pre-designated locations: 35 riders on the Netanya promenade and 35 on the Tel-Aviv promenade through the Rokach intersection. Next, they all rode south to the Yes Planet parking lot in Rishon Lezion, where they listened to a professional talk, and ended the event with a closing party.

The volunteer medical assistants and paramedics in the RSD Piaggio MP3 squad are sent out by the organisation’s dispatch centre, together with ambulances and intensive care cars, to thousands of incidents every month, to provide initial medical aid.

Eli Bean, RSD managing director: "Like the public, I felt very proud to see the RSD Piaggio MP3 squad in such a powerful demonstration, and to see these on-call medical assistants and paramedics: men and women from all sectors and religions, who leave everything – high summer or heavy rain – to get on their MP3 scooters and speed off to save lives, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are the first to arrive on the scene, where they provide reanimation, heart massages, or defibrillation. Many people owe them their lives: this is the time to thank them for their commitment”.
