“SabrinAndrea” and their yellow MITICA Maya bike, on France's Atlantic coast.
September 2025 (G.T.) – They told us back in May about their plan to complete a road trip across Europe, lasting four months. This is what they wrote to our editorial department: “We’re Andrea and Sabrina, two motorbike travellers who love to ride our yellow Moto Guzzi V7, Maya. After last year's adventures through Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece, where we parked our Guzzi under the Acropolis in Athens, we plan to spend four months travelling around Europe, with our Maya again of course!”
Nice idea, sure, but did they actually do it? Well, the answer is yes - the latest update from “SabrinAndrea” (as the couple call themselves) was shared on 6 September: “Our adventure is coming to an end, but we have another month of roaming left; here’s a summary of our incredible journey so far.”
Thank you, fellow Guzzi lovers, for sharing this story and your photos with us; we must confess we envy you a little. A flash of the headlights as a greeting!

“Hi, we’re Sabrina and Andrea, two Italian ‘motorbike-pilgrims’, and this is our MITICA Maya, a magnificent Moto Guzzi V7 850, on which we have been touring Europe for nearly 4 months; this, meanwhile, is our mascot: Miopio.

Who said that horsepower and big engines are essential for travelling by motorbike? For us, the desire to do it and the two wheels that carry us are all we need! Around a year ago, on the saddle of our MITICA bike, we crossed 6 countries and covered nearly 5,000 km, parking up under the Acropolis in Athens.

So, as we returned to our starting point, I started thinking that I would be turning 50 the following year (in 2025, precisely), and I began to plan and dream about a nice little trip on the bike. And here we are, me and my “little ballast” Sabrina. We've left everything behind us and set off, heading for infinity and beyond!
First, we had one desire: to get to the Atlantic and climb the legendary Dune of Pilat! So we set off, passing Avignon, Carcassonne, then Lourdes and the Pyrenees.

Then we finally arrived at the Atlantic Ocean, in Biarritz and Anglet; we were thrilled and overwhelmed to be standing in front of the immense ocean with our Maya!

From there, we headed to the legendary Dune of Pilat (the highest sand dune in Europe, in the French department of Gironde, ed.).

And then? We hadn't yet seen the Verdon Gorge and the lavender in bloom, so we travelled the entire width of France to Lyon, headed over the Mont Cenis Pass and then returned via the Col de la Lombarde.

Direction: the Daluis gorges. After, we arrived at the Verdon Gorge and admired Provence, with its lavender in bloom.

As we were in the area, we also stopped off at the ochre canyon in Roussillon. What an incredible sight!!!

Once we were back in Italy, we felt like eating “strangozzi” in Umbria (long, egg-free handmade pasta typical of central Italy, ed.) and a nice sandwich with “ciauscolo” (soft salami from the Marche region, ed.) in the Marche, just to get a few kilometres under our wheels!
Then we said to each other: now what? No sooner said than done: we found a ferry and wound up in Corsica, travelling between Bastia, Isola Rossa and Calvi. But 5 days in Corsica flies by fast...

We headed back to Genoa, before setting off again immediately for Gorizia, and crossing the whole of Slovenia on our way to Budapest! In Hungary, we travelled along the shores of Lake Balaton and also visited beautiful Budapest.

But we wanted to see other places too, places which we’d only seen on the map, so we said: ‘Let’s go and have a dip in the Black Sea!’ It’s not far from Hungary to Romania: we passed through Timisoara and Sibiu, crossing Transylvania and the Carpathian mountains along the legendary 7C: the Transfăgărășan route. We even saw bears!

After crossing the Carpathian range, we arrived in Brasov and visited the castle of the infamous Dracula in Bran.

Here, we savoured cheese sandwiches made from polenta and a delicious bean chorba. And since we were there, we didn't miss out on the chance to visit Bucharest!

Like us, our poor overloaded Maya couldn't wait to get to the Black Sea. After crossing the border on the Danube, we arrived in Bulgaria near the Black Sea coast. Here, we stopped at the gorgeous island town of Nesebar, finally on the shores of the Black Sea! We dipped our feet in the water and planted our SabrinAndrea flag.

But the road was calling, so we got back on the bike and headed for Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, land of roses!

But after this stop, we had to head home, so we crossed the whole of Serbia to Pancevo to enjoy a delicious pljskavica, a kind of spiced meatball cooked on the grill. On leaving Serbia, we headed to Croatia, with the obligatory stop in Zagreb, another European capital that’s definitely worth a visit.

Zagreb.

Trieste.
From here, we returned to Italy via Trieste, stopping at a campsite in Lido di Fermo to rest for a couple of days, but it’s not over! We said to each other once again: ‘We’ve photographed bears, now let’s go and get some snaps of some monkeys!’. So we’ll soon be setting off again for Gibraltar, visiting southern Spain and crossing the Tabernas Desert to Andalusia... but we'll tell you all about that next time! Ciao from SabrinAndrea. And from their faithful travel companion, the LEGENDARY Maya!
