Massa, 17 July 2017 – “Thanks to a special friend – Francesco Gabbani – who came to us to purchase his new Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone”: this is the messaged posted by the Aldovardi Moto dealer in Massa on their facebook page, together with a series of photos immortalising the delivery of the motorbike to the popular Tuscan singer, songwriter and musician, winner of the 2017 Sanremo song festival.
After winning the Sanremo Giovani contest for newcomers in 2016 (with the song Amen), Francesco Gabbani (35, from Carrara) repeated his success on the Sanremo stage this year, with Occidentali’s Karma (four platinum discs).
His achievement is a first in the annals of the famous Italian song festival (broadcast in Eurovision and watched by millions of fans all over the world): Francesco is the first singer in the 67-year history of the Sanremo festival to win in the two main categories of the song contest in two consecutive years.
With his broad easy smile, Francesco Gabbani, the author of humorous songs with a message, then represented Italy at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest (in Kiev, Ukraine). It’s been a memorable year: his summer hit – Tra le granite e le granate (translation: Between granites and grenades), more than 27 million 600 thousand views (!), a single taken from his album “Magellano” (gold disc) – has already received a gold disc.
There’s no stopping him: in huge demand in the media, every concert sold out, hundreds of thousands of devoted fans (members of the “GabbaCLUB: Francesco Gabbani Official Fans Club) and trainloads of followers (more than 334,000 on his official facebook page). And this summer, between concerts and interviews, the hugely popular singer takes time out with relaxing rides through the Tuscan countryside on the saddle of his splendid new Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone, a “dark lady” with a powerful personality. An excellent choice, Gabba!

Farewell to Ángel Nieto, 13-time world champion between the 50 and 125 categories (second only to Giacomo Agostini in the number of titles earned) and great protagonist in the racing world from the late 1960s.
FROM LEFT: ANGEL NIETO AND GIACOMO AGOSTINI.
Victim of a quad accident in late July, he was hospitalized in the Ibiza hospital in critical condition: here he died on 3rd August 2017. He was 70 years old.
Born in Zamora in 1947, he was the youngest rider to win the 50cc class World Grand Prix Motorcycle Championship, linking his name to Derbi for the 5 world championship titles won, between the 50 and 125 categories, in the period from 1969 through 1972. His starting debut was on a Derbi 50 in the 1964 GP at the Montjuich circuit in Barcelona, with a very good fifth place.
A great hero in Spanish motorcycle racing, he retired in 1986, but he never left the racing world, following the careers of his sons Ángel Jr. and Pablo on the track, as well as his nephew, Fonsi Nieto.
From Aprilia, and on behalf of the entire Piaggio Group, we extend a warm embrace to his family.
